Method and assumptions

Eligibility ceiling of ₹21,000/month was last revised by the Payment of Bonus (Amendment) Act, 2015 with retrospective effect from 01.04.2014.

Where the employee's salary exceeds ₹7,000 and the scheduled minimum wage for that scheduled employment is higher than ₹7,000, bonus is computed on the minimum wage; otherwise on ₹7,000.

Bonus must be paid within 8 months from the close of the accounting year (Section 19). Disqualifications under Section 9 (fraud, riotous behaviour or theft) are not modelled here.
